Why do you need a risk assessment?

  1. A legal and moral duty
  2. To reduce accident rates
  3. To lower insurance premiums
  4. To comply with health & safety requirements demanded by customers
  5. To enable repeat contracts from customers who are satisfied that adequate assessments and control measures are in place
  6. To give you some protection if something goes wrong
  7. To enable proper completion of your health & safety policy

If you do not take action to reduce or control problem areas, or do not ensure that your employees follow procedures that you put in place, the whole exercise will be a waste of time.

Conform - Safety believes that the best risk assessments are thoroughly done, but in a friendly way and should not be too complicated.

We aim to risk assess, introduce control measures and introduce routines to follow to allow you to maintain safety on your site.

Risk Assessment

A hazard is something that has the potential to cause harm or loss.

A risk is the likelihood that the harm or loss will take place.

For example, a sharp edge presents a hazard with the potential to cause injury or loss. The risk is the likelihood that someone will receive an injury from that sharp edge.

A risk assessment identifies potential hazards relating to a particular work activity, as well as staff who may be involved and the likelihood that harm might take place.

The findings must be recorded and control measures put into place to remove or reduce the problem.

There should be a review to ensure that control measures taken are working and that the risk levels have been reduced or eliminated.

The bottom line is to identify and sort the problem before someone is hurt or becomes ill.

Risk assessment is a legal requirement.
